Week 19: Lucy Mae

This morning we bounded out of bed and got ready to commute into Bellevue for an ultrasound and possible amnio on our little peanut (now officially a Mango).

My heart rate read normal (yeah healthy heart) and then we waited for Phil the Ultrasound Guru.  He talked us through what he saw and showed us all sorts of things, bones, femur, kidneys, brain and then... and then... LABIA.

He said with all certainty out little peanut is a girl.  We're super excited by that.  We would have been happy with a boy, but were hoping for a girl.  Then we got to hear the heartbeat and that's when the water started rolling out of my eyes.  (oh help me, I'm a crier)

Phil said he found nothing strange, we're in the 94th or 96th percentile for weight, so we have good growth.

He also said Lucy is about 7 inches long and weighs 10 ounces.  So she is measuring bigger than the mango prediction but we'll stick with the online growth fruits and veggies (mostly because it's fun.)

As you can see by her picture she is very bendy.  That is her foot next to her head.  We're going back in a month for a better picture of her heart, but we know we have 4 ventricles and the only thing they couldn't see super clearly were the veins going into the heart.  She's active and we can't wait to meet her.

Based on the ultrasound we opted not to do an amnio.  The doctor didn't even really ask, he just said that we could do one next month, but he was not pushing the issue.  We may end up having to do one later on to test for other things, but we're happy with what we've got coming our way.

We are over the moon.

It looks as though she has Jason's calves. I cannot wait to meet this little punkin. Totally teared up when I got the text this morning. I was just saying to Jas yesterday that I really hoped it was a little girl. Not that Auntie Jod wouldn't love a little rugger..
